My name is Emily W. Muto ("Emi" for short) and I'm completely obsessed with drawing and telling stories. I've been drawing all my life and started experimenting with comics at 12. At 16 I made my first website by teaching myself HTML. That was when I began posting my art, written stories, and comics online, which I have done continuously ever since.
One of my favorite things to draw has been Japanese style comics with highly detailed panels in black and white. I also recently have created "Webtoons style" comics in full color, vertical scroll style. Additionally, I enjoy making illustrations using a variety of mediums, both traditional and digital. My favorite programs are Clip Studio Paint EX and Photoshop CC, and I use a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. I also love drawing in sketchbooks and coloring with colored pencils, Copic Sketch markers, and watercolors.
Aside from art, I love listening to music, favoring 80s synth, dark wave, progressive metal, and Japanese visual kei. I also love video games, especially classics like DOOM & DOOM II, and many Super Nintendo games. I've loved Disney animated films and anime most of my life, and have been inspired so much by jaw-dropping animation of titles like Akira. Though I now live in Rexburg, Idaho, The Olympic Peninsula of Washington is my favorite place on Earth and constantly influences my art and stories. I also like to bake, exercise, watch fun movies, eat dark chocolate, daydream about stories and characters, and--mostly--spend time with my husband and one-year-old son.
I also work as an online English tutor to students in Japan through Topic Time.
Please enjoy viewing my art and feel free to contact me with commission requests!
